Yachtsman Steakhouse

Here is a pinback button they used to give to younger guests at The Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club Resort. It's made of molded plastic.

Next Time (if I can get the scanner up and running): A button and more from Chef Mickey's Village Restaurant

You Can't Do That At Disney!

This is a pinback button from the Comedy Warehouse at Pleasure Island. I never saw this button for sale so I asked around about it and was told that this button was only given to people who were picked to participate in the show.

The Comedy Warehouse show was not a traditional comedy club show but more of an improve show like Second City. People from the audience were picked to participate in some of the "acts". One of the memorable bits of audience participation was when one of the onstage cast members would make a phone call from the stage. A phone on the wall in the audience would then ring. The audience member would have to answer the phone and then participate in the show.

Drinks at the Comedy Warehouse were served from "Laffer's Keg Shack". This was a little stand outside on the street. We would always go up and get our drinks while we were waiting in line and bring them in with us. You could get the drinks in refillable "sports bottles".

What's it all about?

You may be asking, why another Disney World blog? I am asking myself the same thing. I have been reading a lot of blogs and listening to a lot of podcasts in the last few months and have decided to jump into this myself.

Here's a little bit about me. I've been crazy about Walt Disney World since before it even opened. I was a huge Disneyland fan even though I had never visited and when I heard that they were building a "new Disneyland" in Florida I went crazy. My family went to Florida every year at Easter to visit my grandfather and I knew I would be able to go to the new Walt Disney World. I got all the Viewmaster reels and would look at them constantly as my parents planned our first trip. We visited and stayed in one of the Contemporary Garden Wings in April 1972. We visited every year after that until the mid 80's. My visits have been pretty limited since then but I have always been a huge fan, keeping up with the updates and watching and reading anything I could find.

I have been collecting all sorts of Disney stuff since those early days but my main interest has always been Walt Disney World, especially WDW Pinback Buttons.

This blog will serve as a reason for me to pull out the boxes of Disneyana I have around here and do a little research on some of my favorite items. I will be sharing my findings with all of you but I am mainly doing this for myself. I will also be asking for information on items I can't find out anything about.

I will be posting mainly about pinback buttons but I have a lot of other "stuff" that I will be sharing as well, such as tickets, posters, pictures of extinct attractions, basically anything I have an interest in doing some research on. I look forward to "talking" to you all soon.
